Philly’s mean streets featured in ‘Wreck Chasers’

PHILADELPHIA — The mean streets of the City of Brotherly Love are once again coming to television.

“Wreck Chasers” is a reality show about the city’s notoriously aggressive tow truck drivers. It’s shooting in Philadelphia and slated to premiere in late October on the TLC network.

Production crews are following several drivers with one unidentified Philadelphia towing company as they race to beat the competition to wrecks. Jim Kowats, the show’s executive producer, says filming started in May.

The show is the second series focusing on the difficulties of Philadelphia motorists. “Parking Wars,” in its third season on A&E, features Philadelphia Parking Authority employees at work.
