Jihad, Taliban, floods, and now Operation ‘Samosa’ sends Pak Interior Ministry in panic

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Interior Ministry is in a state of panic to investigate a major Al-Qaeda plot in Canada, as its hands are already tied with foreign and home grown militants, local jihadi organisations and floods.

Pakistani agencies had tipped off their Canadian counterparts, who then launched ‘Operation Samosa’, one of the biggest clandestine efforts in the history of Canada.

The operation culminated in the arrest of Misbahuddin Ahmed, Hiva Alizadeh and Dr. Khurram Sher from Ontario on August 18.

“We are currently in a state of panic. If the whole al Qaeda, Taliban, TTP, local jihadi organisations and floods were not enough, we are now under immense pressure to trace the links of the alleged bombers caught in Ontario, Canada,” Interior Ministry sources said.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has been alleged by a certain Western diplomat of being the brains behind the would-be terrorist attacks in Canada, the Daily Times reports.

TTP spokesman Azam Tariq neither refused nor denied the statement, but instead opted to say, “We support anyone who would fight the infidels.”

While intense investigations are underway both in Pakistan and Canada, intelligence officials in Pakistan are said to be focusing on a friend of Faisal Shahzad-Muhammad Rehan, who originally introduced Shahzad to the TTP.

Hiva Alizadeh, 30, an Iranian of Kurdish origin, is believed to be the mastermind of the would-be terrorist plot. (ANI)
