PORTLAND, Ore. — The International Dairy Foods Association spent $181,000 in the second quarter on lobbying, according to a recent disclosure report.
The trade group for the nation’s dairy makers, marketers and suppliers lobbied on food safety, nutrition policy, trade, transportation and other issues in April through June. Its members include Dean Foods Co., Lifeway Foods Inc. and ConAgra Foods Inc.
The group spent less in first quarter — $151,000 — but more — $247,000 — in last year’s second quarter.
Besides Congress, the association lobbied the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Trade Representative and the Executive Office of the President, according to the report it filed July 20 with the House clerk’s office.
