SHIMLA - A four-day theatre festival organized here is spreading a message of peace and harmony, while also serving as a platform for artists to showcase their talent.

Organized jointly by the Language and Culture Department of the Himachal Pradesh Government and the Haryana Art Federation of Kuruksherta, the festival began on Friday.

One play is performed every day, and each carries a message of peace through different themes.

The enthusiastic response has prompted organizers to make the festival an annual event.

“It is again a new beginning for theatre in the country. Events like these should be held time and again, so that people and actors stay connected to this art and the message of peace and harmony can be promoted,” said Madhu Deep Singh, a theatre artist.

On August 21 a Punjabi play ‘Jis Lahore Nehi Vekhia Ohe Jamyian Hi Nehi’ was staged on the second day of the festival. Based in the year 1947, the emotional tale depicts the condition of people during the partition of the Indian subcontinent. By Hemant Chauhan (ANI)
