POONCH - Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire yet again on Thursday by lobbing rockets and mortars at Indian forward posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
The incident occurred in the wee hours today.
Pakistani soldiers indulged in heavy firing along the LoC at around 0100 hours, targeting Indian forward posts in Krishnagati sub-sector of Poonch district with rockets and mortars.
Dozens of mortars and rockets were fired, which exploded away from the posts without causing any damage.
In retaliation, the Indian troops guarding the border, took positions and fired back resulting in heavy exchanges for over two hours. But there were no casualties on either side.
Residents of Poonch claimed that Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian posts with rockets, mortars and heavy firing.
“The firing which happened last night, from 12 till 3.30 am, the firing was non-stop. We didn’t know that it was our bombs or Pakistan’s bombs that reached us. We have not seen such firing from the past two to three years,” said Dayal Singh, a local resident.
“Our brigade of the KG sector…they are also retaliating. So, we are not able to understand that they are doing all this to infiltrate, or what,” he added. (ANI)
