Giuliani against proposed mosque near ground zero
NEW YORK — Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani says a proposed Islamic center and mosque near ground zero would create more division, anger and hatred.
Speaking on NBC’s “Today” show Thursday, Giuliani questioned whether the center’s leader Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is really committed to healing.
Giuliani says that if Rauf is really about healing, he won’t go forward with the project because of the pain it would cause some family members of those who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Giuliani says Rauf is “selling sensitivity.” But he says the imam cannot do that by “creating this vicious, sort of angry battle that’s going on.”
