DMRC Plans For Disabled

DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The visually and physically disabled people in the capital can hope for comfortable travel in Delhi Metro in near future, thanks to the initiative of DMRC to introduce disable friendly services in certain routes. The Airport Express Line of DMRC which has been in the making for quite some time will be thrown open for the public in next month. This route will be disabled friendly as the DMRC officials have said. In this route the physically and visually handicapped passengers will be able to move and commute freely and they would not have to depend on others at all.

The rail link between Dwarka sector 21 and the New Delhi Railway Station has been set up by the Reliance Infrastructure. The company’s senior executive vice president K.P. Maheshwari recent said that the company has set up the metro link keeping in mind the highest level of comfort for the passengers. The needs of the physically challenged people have been taken into consideration he added. The stations can be easily accessed by even those who need to use wheel chairs for moving around. Even the coaches of the DMRC in this route will be equipped with wheelchairs.

The elevators used in these stations of DMRC will be easier for the visually impaired persons. Every station along the route is also equipped with toilets which are disabled friendly. The floors of the metro rakes and the platform have been kept at same levels for easy movement of the visually impaired passengers. The move of DMRC will draw applause from the handicapped passengers for sure.
