SEATTLE (GaeaTimes.com)- While the newly implemented urban farming legislation in Seattle may go down well with the residents it may make the fowl population of the city see red! The new law encourages farming of fowls but imposes a ban on raising of roosters. The Seattle City Council approved the legislation in recent times. According to the new rule the Seattle residents can bring up as many as 8 fowls in their residential areas from the earlier limit of 3 fowl per household. Along with the increase in the number of fowls and restriction on roosters in the city area the council has also given its nod for selling crops grown at home. The restrictions on both farmers markets and community gardens have been made lighter to an extent.

The President of the Seattle City Council, Richard Conlin expressed his view that after the new legislation comes into effect the economy of Seattle will be benefitted and the city will progress. He made it appoint to mention that he was not for banning roosters from Seattle but other council members gave their vote for ousting them. A council member named Sally Bagshaw said that it was right to take the decision to ban roosters. She was bugged by the roosters staying in the neighborhood and the birds crowed in early morning each day!

Another Seattle City Council member named Tom Rasmussen said that the residents are not allowed to raise new roosters but they can retain the existing ones. The law will result in increased sale of regional crops, the council members said.
