Oz Muslim woman says ‘not guilty’ of false complaint in DUI veil removal case

CANBERRA - An Australian Muslim woman who accused a policeman of trying to pull off her headdress has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to knowingly making a false complaint.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, 45-year-old Carnita Matthews, of Woodbine in Sydney’s southwest, appeared in Campbelltown Local Court today on charges of knowingly making a false complaint.

Matthews, earlier, alleged that she had been mistreated by police after being stopped for a random breath test by pulling her up and trying to remove her headdress, which concealed her entire face except for her eyes.

The matter has been adjourned till September 29 at Campbelltown Local Court.

Currently, she is not in custody. (ANI)
