KUALA LUMPUR - An illegal marriage broker in Malaysia is said to be offering couples an “express solemnisation service” via the telephone that takes just 10 minutes to complete.

Pak Sheikh, a “religious” and self-proclaimed certified zakat (tithes) collector, uses gadgets such as a BlackBerry to run his business.

And according to Kosmo!, he would offer customers a choice of four wedding packages, ranging from RM700 to RM4,000, the Star Online reported.

The fake marriage certificates, which come from Thailand, are ready within one week.

The wali (guardian) of the bride does not need to be present, and they can simply be contacted through the telephone to give their approval.

Pak Sheikh, who is reported to be operating from a house in Subang Perdana, Selangor, has a team of wali who work for him.

Apparently, he also offers services to those who want a quick marriage to their non-Muslim partners. (ANI)
