ISLAMABAD - Extremists are planning to target high profile personalities, including judges, parliamentarians and top military officials in Islamabad, a senior police official has warned.

Talking to media persons outside the parliament, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam said that terrorist groups have issued death threats to police officials and important government officials.

“On the basis of intelligence information, security has been beefed up at sensitive locations in the federal capital,” The Dawn quoted Imam, as saying.

Responding to a question he said that the present situation in the federal capital does not permit reducing the number of police check posts in the city.

Imam also informed that efforts were underway to nab the accomplices of the terrorist who was killed in a police encounter in the city’s G-8 sector recently. (ANI)
