One killed, 14 injured as militants attack Army convoy in J-K

RAJOURI - At least one person killed and 14 others, including two Army jawans, were injured after militants attacked a convoy of the Army in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning.

The two injured jawans belong to Rashtriya Rifles.

The militants targeted the convoy of 48 Rashtriya Rifles including its Commanding Officer when it was returning from an operation.

A bus, which was coming after the convoy, was also caught in the crossfire between the defence personnel and the militants. “Today morning at around 8.45 when CO (Commanding Officer) of 48 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) after an operation was returning to Thanamandi from DKG (Dera Ki Gali), his vehicle got ambushed. Behind it a passenger service bus, which was coming from Poonch to Rajouri for Jammu also came under attack.

In the incident 14 persons got injured,” said R K Jhalla, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri.

The entire area has been cordoned off for the security personnel to launch an extensive combing operation.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Rajouri. (ANI)
