AURANGABAD - An ageing lioness is battling for its life after getting injured while being shifted for treatment in Maharashtra.

The 21-year-old animal, which belongs to the Aurangabad Zoo, was suffering from renal problems.

The big cat has a huge wound on her back and has been put on intravenous fluids and antibiotics.

“She was in the cage, and unable to get up. So, when we were shifting her she got injured. We are applying sprays and ointments to cure the wounds,” said Sanjay Nandan, an animal conservation officer.

Zoo officials have sent blood samples of the animal and reports reveal that she has kidney problems. Doctors have started treatment, hoping she will recover within ten days. By Abdul Hadi (ANI)
