NEW DELHI/PATNA - The Chief Election Commissioner, S.Y. Quraishi, has warned IAS and IPS officers posted in Bihar against unduly influencing the poll process during the upcoming State Assembly Polls.

The Chief Election commissioner S.Y. Quraishi has cautioned IAS and IPS officers working in Bihar against unduly influencing the poll process during the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

“Non-partiality, total neutrality and transparency would be maintained in the entire poll process. Grievances of people would be addressed promptly and properly,” said Quraishi, while talking to the media after reviewing election preparedness for assembly polls.

The Election Commission has issued new expenditure guidelines for the elections.

“For the first time these guidelines will be made effective in the forthcoming Bihar assembly election,” said Quraishi, hoping that the new guidelines will be helpful to control money power in elections.

“All the political parties are united on this issue. 95 percent of the media houses are also against the practice of paid news,” he added.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) Team, which arrived here after a two-day Bihar visit to review poll preparedness, had earlier announced that it would consider factors like examination, monsoon, festivals, law and order and force requirement before finalizing the poll schedule.

The Commission is expected to announce the dates for the assembly polls after reviewing the election preparedness. (ANI)
