Pa. river search for kids dropped; claim doubted
PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard is suspending its search of the Delaware River after finding no evidence to support a woman’s claim that she threw her three young children off a Philadelphia bridge.
Lt. Commander Stephanie Brennell says the search was suspended early Tuesday afternoon. She says that searchers never found anything and that the woman who made the report has not been located.
Authorities had been searching the river since around 4 a.m.
That’s when officials say the woman called a Philadelphia hospital and said she was in Camden, N.J., and had thrown her newborn baby, her 4-year-old and her 2-year-old off the Ben Franklin Bridge.
