LONDON - US First Lady Michelle Obama and her youngest daughter Sasha dined with the Spanish King and Queen at their summer palace on the island, amid criticism of the expensive trip.

After joining King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia and the wife of the heir to the throne, Princess Letizia for lunch, the President’s wife and nine-year daughter returned to Washington DC, reports the Telegraph.

In the wake of the emerged details of the First Lady’s luxury mini-break stay at the five-star Villa Padierna, one US commentator compared her to “a modern-day Marie Antoinette.”

The entire Spain trip is estimated to have cost the American public 375,000dollar even though Mrs Obama, and the friends who joined her, paid their personal expenses.

The President’s wife described her visit to Granada as “unforgettable” and was overheard saying that she would like visit again with her husband. (ANI)
