PAS must look after Indians, Chinese, says its vice-president

SITIAWAN - The Parti Islam Semalaysia or the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) has been urged to look after both the Chinese and Indian communities.

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said party members should not take the new-found support from the Chinese and Indian for granted, adding: “It is not easy to get them to have faith in us. We must also look after them.”

“We are on the right track to Putrajaya,” he said at the opening of the Perak PAS convention at Kutien Hall in Ayer Tawar last week.

PAS, he said, was no longer seen as an extremist party now as it had support from the non-Muslim communities.

Salahuddin said the perception of the Chinese and Indian communities towards the party had changed after years of struggle.

He said the swing in votes from the non-Muslim communities in recent by-elections clearly showed that the party was now widely accepted. (ANI)
