Demjanjuk session postponed over health issues

MUNICH — A court session in the trial of John Demjanjuk has been postponed because of defendant’s health issues.

Presiding Judge Ralph Alt told the Munich state court that a court doctor had determined the 90-year-old retired Ohio autoworker couldn’t attend Friday’s session. He gave no details but the session was rescheduled for Monday.

Demjanjuk, who was deported to Germany last year, is being tried on 28,060 counts of accessory to murder for his alleged activities as a guard at the Nazis’ Sobibor death camp. He denies the charges.

Demjanjuk suffers from several medical problems and more than 10 sessions have been canceled since the trial opened last November.
