AUCKLAND - The brother and a friend of the man who killed Indian-origin liquor store owner Navtej Singh have been sentenced for their part in an aggravated robbery of a Manurewa house a day before the fatal shooting.
On June 6, 2008, Anitelea Chan Kee, his brother Ameto Chan Kee and their friend Misiona Tia had robbed the house in Randwick Park of drugs and a brown jacket, believing that it contained cash.
The next day, Anitelea shot Singh during an aggravated robbery of his Riverton Liquor Store, also in Manurewa. He died in the hospital the next day.
Last year, Anitelea had admitted aggravated robbery of the house, while Ameto and Tia pleaded guilty in March.
The Auckland High Court today sentenced Tia to two years and seven months in jail, and Ameto was jailed for two years and one month, Stuff.co.nz reports.
Anitelea was earlier jailed for life with a minimum non-parole period of 17 years after being found guilty of Singh’s murder. (ANI)
