TEL AVIV - A small model airplane flew into Israel from Lebanon two weeks ago and crashed close to the border, an Israeli Defence Force (IDF) spokesman announced Sunday night.

The 50 centimetre-long plane was not carrying any weapons or surveillance equipment, and is thought to have been launched by the al-Manar Television station, run by the Hezbollah organization, to mark the fourth outbreak of the 2006 bitter war between Israel the Iranian-backed group.

According to an IDF statement, “this incident was one of al-Manar’s attempts of provocation in light of the four years since the Second Lebanon War”.
