Brit man pops the question with ring made from his shinbone

London, July 25 (ANI): A British man has popped the question to his lover with an engagement ring made from his own shinbone.

Mike Perrett, 25, went out on a limb to commission top London jewellers Ingle and Rhode to produce the ring.

Fiancee Melita was pleased when Mike proposed her with the ring during dinner at home in Kensal Rise, northwest London.

The ring, made from platinum and inlaid with two pieces of his bone plus a quarter-carat diamond, costs 1,500 pounds.

Mike lost his leg four years ago after an accident. He was asked to take home the bone and he had already made other items from it himself using a DIY toolkit. He got the idea when he saw a friend wearing an imitation bone earring made from plastic.

“I’d always been very good at making things so I thought why not make a real bone earring? I bought a Dremel multi tool and the first pieces I made were a necklace and an earring for myself and cufflinks for my dad,” News Of The World quoted Mike as saying.

Mike lost his leg after he fell off from a cliff while playing volleyball at an orphanage in India.

“I hated the idea of my leg being taken away for ever. They agreed to give me part of the shin bone, which kept me happy,” Mike said.

“It had been in my mind all the way through to make an engagement ring for Melita out of my own bone. Once I decided to propose it seemed obvious,” he added. (ANI)
