Suspected Maoists trigger blast in West Bengal

JHARGAM - Suspected Maoists today blew up State Highway 4, which connects Jhargram and West Midnapore districts in West Bengal.
The movement of the Joint Forces, comprising State police and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) takes place along State Highway 4, prompting speculations that they may have been the targets.
However, the personnel could not move on Wednesday and escaped the blast.
Reportedly, a directional landmine of high intensity was used in a culvert to blast a crater-like pit in the road.
According to the local residents the blast took place in the wee hours.
However, there were no reports of causalities.
The blast has caused disruption in the movement of traffic between Jhargram and West Midnapore.
State Highway 4 also connects West Bengal state to neighbouring Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa states. (ANI)
