R S PURA - In yet another incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, a trooper of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) was injured after Pakistani Rangers opened firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s R S Pura Sector on Wednesday.

The unprovoked firing from Pakistani side has instilled fear among villagers in the region here, as they fear for their lives.

“There is no person in the border area and the firing is going on since morning. There should be some solution to this. If the problems were not solved, all the fields would go empty,” said Jagar Singh, the Village Head.

“We cannot go to our homes it’s very difficult for us to save ourselves. We didn’t get water or even food. There is lot of gun firing in the border area. We are even afraid of getting injured,” said Kamli Devi, a villager.

The firing started around 6.30 a.m. and lasted for more than 90 minutes.

Today’s ceasefire violation from Pakistani side was the eighth such incident recorded in this month.

Four such violations occurred earlier in the Chak Phagwari border outpost, when the Pakistan troops fired on patrol parties of the BSF and killed two jawans. By Tahir Nadeem Khan (ANI)
