TWA hosts five-day seminar on Tibetan issues

SHIMLA - The Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) is hosting a five-day seminar on issues related to Tibet in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.peaking to the media persons on Monday, Kirti Dolkar Lhamo, President of the TWA, mentioned that numerous topics concerning Tibet would be deliberated upon at the conference.

“So, here we have 29 regional chapters gathered. So, right at the moment, we are discussing that during the ninth general board meeting whatever the resolution is passed, for the feet forward, we are discussing right at the moment,” said Lhamo.

She further said they believed that there is a perfect solution to the problems faced by Tibetans.

“Tibetan women stand for this medieval approach of standees. And, through this medieval approach, we have full belief that it is solvable, it is the issue for the benefit of the Chinese and the Tibetan people,” added Lhamo.

The first meeting of the working committee of the TWA took place at Dharamsala in 1985, a year after the re-establishment of the association in-exile.

Midway through their term, executive members of the central and regional chapters of the TWA congregate to assess initiatives undertaken since the prior meeting and strategize for future endeavours.

The TWA has over 15,000 members situated outside Tibet. It is the second largest Tibetan voluntary forum with the tag of an NGO. (ANI)
