NY Daily News editor Dunn leaving after 7 years
NEW YORK — The deputy publisher and editor-in-chief of the Daily News in New York is stepping down.
Martin Dunn is leaving after seven years on the job.
He says in an e-mail to staff Tuesday that he needs to devote time to a family issue. He tells the New York Post that his wife, Debbie, is ill with cancer.
The newspaper announced Kevin Convey, editor-in-chief of the Boston Herald for the past 3½ years, will succeed Dunn as editor-in-chief.
Dunn has been at the helm since 2003. It was his second stint as editor-in-chief. He had the job for a few years in the 1990s.
Dunn did not give a departure date in his e-mail. He highlighted successes during his tenure, including a 2007 Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing about the health of ground zero workers.
