Cameron: Nothing says BP swayed Scots on bomber
WASHINGTON — British Prime Minister David Cameron says he has seen nothing to suggest that BP swayed the Scottish government into releasing the Lockerbie bomber from jail last year and sending him home to Libya.
Cameron insisted several times Tuesday that the decision to free Abdel Baset al-Megrahi (AHB’-dehl BAH’-seht AH’-lee ahl-meh-GRAH’-hee) was made by the Scottish government. Cameron said he hasn’t seen anything to suggest that the government was “in any way swayed by BP.”
He said any role BP may have played in the bomber’s release is for BP to answer. Cameron spoke to reporters at the White House after a meeting with President Barack Obama.
