One third of Brit couples use Church of England’s online wedding planner

LONDON - The Church of England has entered cyberspace with an online wedding planner that is now used by one third of Brit couples.
The under-trial website has been designed to guide people through the order of service as well as providing a selection of hymns, readings and vows to choose from.

It has played a part in 28,000 church weddings, out of 90,000, in the last 21 months.
“The message I would like to get across is we love welcoming people for marriage in church. That’s really part of what the Church of England is about,” the Telegraph quoted Stephen Platten, Bishop of Wakefield, as saying.

He added: “Although we live in a different world now where people have often lived together before they get married nevertheless it seems to me that any way we can welcome people who would like to come we should choose to do so.”

Tamar Kasriel, of Weddings Project, said: “When people choose a church wedding, in general they want something fairly traditional. So for today’s bride and groom, hymns still have definite appeal.

“But when they feel free to choose music and readings, so their wedding reflects their personal story and style, that elevates their experience altogether. More than that, busy people who are planning a wedding will want anything that helps them plan,” he added. (ANI)
