UK to play its due role to resolve Kashmir issue: Brit Minister

ISLAMABAD - A British Minister of Pakistani origin has said that the UK government is ready to play its due role to help both India and Pakistan resolve the long pending Kashmir issue peacefully.
Sayeeda Warsi, who is a cabinet minister in the David Cameron government, said London was taking effective steps in connection with the resolution of the Kashmir conflict.
Speaking during a reception hosted in her honour in Mirpur, Warsi said Britain is concerned over prevalent situation in the region and wants an early and peaceful resolution to all the contentious issues between the two neighbouring nations.
She said that thousands of people from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) were serving in various sectors across Britain, and the British government would extend due cooperation and assistance for the progress and prosperity the region through an exchange of cooperation in the education, health and social sectors.
Speaking during the function political leaders like Sardar Attique and Muhammad Yasin also urged Britain to exert ‘every possible pressure on India’ for the early resolution of the Kashmir dispute, The Daily Times reports.
“The people of Kashmir attach great hopes with Warsi vis-�-vis her role for an early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue in line with the resolutions of the United Nations,” they said. (ANI)
