NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Rupee symbol has finally been approved and it has made headlines. It is joining the batch of currency identities and in near future one can see the symbol in the keyboards of computers and mobile phones. This is going to make the newly inducted symbol accepted on a global scale. The leading software vendors are willing to tweak their systems to include the symbol. However, it is yet to be known whether it will get a dedicated key on the computer keyboard or a few keystroke combination would be required to produce it on screen.

Microsoft may tweak its OS and other software to include the freshly inducted Rupee symbol. Its Windows Vista OS supports a dozen Indian languages and hence incorporating the symbol will not be a tough task for it. Leading PC manufacturers like HCL and HP are already planning to include the symbol in their keyboards in the near future. Surely this move will be much appreciated by the computer users in India. The HCL executive vice-president George Paul admitted that the company is making such a move. Even small time domestic IT hardware companies are expected to follow suit.

The cell phone makers in India have also expressed their desire to incorporate the symbol in the phones they make. Samsung which is a major player in the cell phone market in India will lead the trend. The two other companies that have shown interest are HTC and Intex technologies. Even search engine giant Google is willing to incorporate this Rupee symbol, officials of the company have revealed.
