Authorities: NJ parking garage partially collapses
HACKENSACK, N.J. — Authorities say a three-level parking garage partially collapsed in northern New Jersey when an overhang fell on it.
Hackensack Fire Capt. Thomas Salsedo says officials are on the scene trying to assess the damage and whether anyone was hurt in the collapse Friday morning. Emergency officials are looking into reports that two people may be missing.
The garage serves an adjacent high-rise condominium tower.
Building resident Chris Baldo tells local television station News 12 that he was in his first-floor unit when he heard “rumbling that sounded like an earthquake or a plane, like something hit the building.” He says he looked over his shoulder and saw the collapse.
