Maoist commander surrenders with arms, ammunition in Jharkhand

RANCHI - An area commander of a Maoist organization, Barun Majhi, alias Uttam, surrendered with huge amounts of arms and ammunition in Bokaro, Jharkhand.

Bokaro Police said four rifles of .303 bore, 410 bullets, 100 Kg of ammonium nitrate and Maoist literature has been recovered from Majhi.

Police said Majhi contacted them, as he was not happy with the work he was doing.

“He is the area commander and he has surrendered of his own free will,” said K. S. Meena, Inspector General, Bokaro.

Police say Majhi, would get a Rs 200,000 reward, besides, with other various government facilities, which form part of the surrender package. (ANI)
