Deutsche Bank taps Mayer head of NA global markets
NEW YORK — Deutsche Bank AG on Tuesday named industry veteran Jeffrey Mayer as its head of global markets for North America.
Mayer will manage the investment bank’s regional sales and trading business, and will be based in New York.
He is replacing Fred Brettschneider, who is leaving the bank to start a hedge fund.
Most recently, Mayer was the executive chairman of fixed income, currencies and commodities and head of complex structured products at UBS. He spent 19 years at the former Bear Stearns.
Separately, Deutsche Bank said it is expanding its equity capital markets platform, and named three industry veterans to its new ECM Execution Group. The group will oversee franchise business.
Jay Coleman will serve as managing director and head of equity capital markets execution, Americas.
Coleman most recently was global head of equity capital markets execution for Barclays Bank/Lehman Brothers and previously worked at Morgan Stanley.
Mark Schwartz was named managing director for the group. Ben Marsh will serve as director, respectively. Both are also veterans of Barclays/Lehman.
In afternoon trading, Deutsche Bank’s U.S. shares rose $1.88, or 3 percent, to $64.12.
