Maoist blocked highway by felling trees: Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR - The Maoist blocked by felling trees in the middle of the road National Highway 16 in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

The busy route that links Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh was badly hit, as the heavy logs blocked the entire stretch of the road.

The police personnel reached the site, which was 44 kilometers away from Bijapur city, and cleared the road with the help of other stranded passengers.

“Ahead of Behramgarh on National Highway, they have cut down trees and blocked the National Highway. And the road has also been dug. Keeping the security aspect in mind the police is clearing the road,” said R P Devangan, In-charge, Police Station, Bijapur.

The rebels also hanged an effigy of Home Minister P Chidambaram and left threatening notes nearby. (ANI)
