Train services resume on Ambala- New Delhi route

CHANDIGARH - Trains services resumed on the Ambala-New Delhi section of the railways. The track, which had sunk at a few places due to floods, was strengthened with sand bags.
Railway authorities stopped the movement of trains after the track started sinking near Shahbad town in Haryana, 65 km from Chandigarh.
Several trains were cancelled and trains plying on the route that connects New Delhi with Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, were diverted via Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. While all other trains were running much behind the schedule.
The track had started sinking as floodwater accumulated in fields on both sides of the railway line, leading to loosening of the track embankment.
Railway authorities put up hundreds of sandbags to strengthen the railway track and stop it from sinking further. (ANI)
