BRUSSELS - The European Union’s executive Friday sent 2 million euros ($2.5 million) in aid to victims of the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.

The violence in the state is “hampering the work of humanitarian aid organizations in these areas”, the European Commission said in a statement.

The EU’s funding will help provide support, basic health care and psychological counselling for over 100,000 people, including conflict detainees, women, children and the disabled, the statement said.

EU aid is usually administered by international aid groups such as the UN and the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement.
