100th British soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

LONDON - A British soldier has become the 100th member of UK forces to be killed in the Sangin area of southern Afghanistan. ccording to The Telegraph, 313 British soldiers have died in Afghanistan since they entered the country in 2001.
It quoted the defence ministry as saying that the serviceman, from 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, died after being hit by an explosion while on a foot patrol.
His family has been informed.
The death came a day after the Government announced that Britain would hand over Sangin in northern Helmand Province to the US Marines by the end of the year. (ANI)
