SHIMLA - A cloudburst in the Manikaran Valley of Himachal’s Kullu District has caused heavy damage to public and private property.

A couple of bridges, vehicles, machinery and other equipments at the under construction Parbati Hydro Electric Project have been washed away.

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited is building the 800 Mega Watt hydro-project on River Parbati, a tributary of River Beas.

“We had two offices here and other machinery; everything has been washed away. We are facing huge losses. Lots of vehicles and equipment have been lost,” said Vijay, a local resident.

The cloudburst started at around 6 a.m., and are now filled with water and mud.

Heavy showers have inundated parts of the national highway, forcing the administration to block the route temporarily. (ANI)
