Former Kansas official charged in ticket scam
WICHITA, Kan. — A former University of Kansas athletics official tied to a ticket scandal at the school has been charged as part of a federal probe into the scheme.
A criminal information document filed in federal court in Topeka says Brandon Simmons, the university’s former assistant athletic director for sales and marketing, knew tickets were stolen from the university but did not report it.
Simmons and five other university employees have been accused of selling at least $1 million in basketball and football tickets to brokers. Simmons is the first person formally charged in the scheme.
