All Parties Conference unlikely to recommend military operation in Pak Punjab

ISLAMABAD - The All Parties Conference planned by the Pakistan government to chalk out a strategy to counter the ever-expanding terror threat, is unlikely to recommend any military operation in Punjab, which has been hit hardest by militants in the recent past.
Sources within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which currently rules in Punjab, said the party does not want any military offensive in the province as it could have far reaching effect on its political ambitions.
According to some party sources, there are elements in the federal government, which are trying to destabilise the provincial government by triggering sectarian violence in the region.
The PML-N would prefer to walk out of the government rather than compromising the greater interests of the people of Punjab, a senior PML-N leader said on conditions of anonymity.
“We want the all who are participating in the APC to present their views so that an appropriate course of action could be evolved to tackle the menace of terrorism in the country,” The Nation quoted the leader, as saying. (ANI)
