WASHINGTON - A former US Homeland Security Department official has claimed that Afghan Taliban chief Muhammed Mullah Omar has been arrested.

The official, who is identified only as Bred, wrote on his blog that Omar, who has 25 million dollar bounty on his head, was nabbed in Karachi in March.

In November 2009, the Washington Times had reported that Omar, assisted by the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), had moved to Karachi in October.

Bred is said to have close links with the US Army, The News reports.

There has been no official statement regarding the blogger’s claim either from the US Defence Department or Pakistani officials. (ANI)
