LONDON - England’s oldest nudist club has vowed that it would not close down, despite having been exposed to months of noise and dust from nearby road works.
The Fiveacres Country Club near St Albans in Hertfordshire has complained repeatedly about a road-widening scheme on the nearby M25, which has disturbed the tranquillity of its 250 nudist members.
“We’re not closing. We’ll never close, we’re here to stay forever, whatever life throws at us,” the Sun quoted Managing director, Pat Badham as saying.
However, the Highways Agency said that they had listened to the club’s concerns and have changed its working methods accordingly. spokesman said, “Our contractors are now using water to prevent dust escaping into nearby properties and they have changed their working methods to reduce vehicle noise.”
“The Highways Agency and Connect Plus, who are responsible for the work on the Agency’s behalf, regret any inconvenience caused by the effects of the work.
“We wish to work with local communities to address their concerns.”
Set in seven acres of wooded grounds, club boasts sunbathing lawns, a camping area, sports courts and a pool.
It also includes a sauna, jacuzzi, bar, restaurant and ballroom. (ANI)
