NYC anglophiles aflutter ahead of royal visit

NEW YORK — Some of New York’s anglophiles are aflutter with anticipation ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to New York City in 34 years.

Tony Packwood is British and works at a food shop called Carry on Tea & Sympathy. He says locals have been coming in to ask him about the queen’s visit.

She’s scheduled to arrive Tuesday morning. The queen plans to visit ground zero for the first time and make her first address in over half a century to the U.N. General Assembly. Her visit to the city is scheduled to last just five hours.

Packwood says the Americans seem to be more excited than English. He says English people are brought up with the queen, but it’s a novelty for Americans.
