LONDON - A Finnish couple have won the Annual World Wife Carrying Championship in the country for the second year in a row, after overcoming tough competition.
The event, in its 15th year, attracted 55 couples from around the world.
Some couples even came from Australia, Poland and Ireland to take part in the race that was held in Sonkajarvi, eastern Finland.
The winning couple, Taisto Miettinen and Kristiina Haapanen from Finland, won beer of the amount equal to the wife’s weight as their prize, reports Sky News.
“I have been in the gym. I do a lot of things and of course we have practised together,” Miettinen said.
Rules to the championship included having fun and the wife being older than 17 years of age, with a minimum weight of 49kg. (ANI)
