Correction: WWII Remains Returned story
TYRONE, Pa. — In a story July 3 about the Pentagon’s announcement of the discovery of remains of seven U.S. servicemen from World War II, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the men served in the Air Force. They served in the Army Air Forces, which predated the Air Force, which was created in 1947.
(This version CORRECTS name of service branch to Army Air Forces, instead of Army Air Corps.)
