LONDON - Chirpy Raymond Calvert is Britain’s oldest new dad at 79.

Raymond fathered son Jamie Rai with lover Charlotte Calvert, who is 54 years his junior.

The former shop owner and market trader, whose lover has taken his surname but not walked down the aisle, was 78 when the couple’s 7lb 1oz baby was born.

“He’s a gift from God - my very own little miracle,” Raymond said.

He broke the earlier record set by Dennis Ealam, who was 76 when his wife Cora gave birth to daughter Jessie in Lincoln in December 2009, reports The Sun.

“I am the most fortunate man in the world. It makes me feel 10ft tall. For an older man, it’s just amazing. I love him to bits and I would give my life for the little guy,” Raymond said.

“The baby was planned and I did not use Viagra or anything like that. I didn’t actually think at my age that it would be possible to have a child, but he’s a beautiful little fella. I feel blessed. I look at that baby and I think, ‘He’s so bloody healthy and good-looking - how did I make that,’” he added. (ANI)
