LONDON - A Conservative MP, Philip Hollobone is attempting to pass a law, which would ban people from wearing ‘burkas’ and balaclavas.

According to The Independent, Hollobone has tabled Face Covering (Regulations) Bill to regulate the use of “certain facial coverings” from being worn in public.

However, the backbench MP was drawn 17th in the ballot for the chance to get the Private Members’ Bill on the statute book, making it almost an unrealistic prospect of the measure becoming law.

He has previously described the burka as “against the British way of life”.

“Wearing a burka is the religious equivalent of going round with a paper bag over your head with two holes for eyes,” The Independent quoted him as saying. (ANI)
