ISLAMABAD - In a shocking revelation, a Pakistan National Assembly’s (NA) standing committee enquiry has disclosed that the office of the NA employees housing society was being used as a ’sex joint’ and that about 200 million rupees of the employees, which was colleted by the housing society, has apparently ‘disappeared’.
Chairman of a sub-committee of the NA Standing Committee on Interior Sheikh Waqas Akram said that following an enquiry, the NA Employees Cooperation Housing Society (NAECHS) office, situated in the capital’s G-6 sector, was sealed as solid evidence was found that the two rooms were being used for illegal activities.
Waqas also revealed that 50,000 rupees was being paid as rent for the office.
“An embezzlement of 200 million rupees was done with great ease in a cruel and bold way where huge amounts of the poor people were simply withdrawn from the bank and were eaten. There was no fear of accountability,” The News quoted Waqas, as saying.
Member of the administrative committee of the NAECHS, Shahid Qureshi said in his capacity as member of the caretaker body, he had informed the concerned authorities about the misappropriations and corrupt practices, but no action was taken.
Qureshi also revealed that in 2008, the government appointed Tariq Khakwani as the head of the committee.
Qureshi said as Khakwani was considered to be an influential and strong person, no action was taken against him despite his repeated appeals. (ANI)
