Pak provincial government calls for emergency army action in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD - The provincial government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) has reportedly called on the Army for operation against terrorists in Peshawar.
The call comes after 700 suspected terrorists, most of them belonging to Mohmand tribal area along the Afghan border, were arrested in the city in recent days.
The KP government contacted the Army to launch an operation in the surrounding of Peshawar, at a short distance from Orakzai agency and adjacent to Khyber and Mohmand tribal areas, Xinhua news agency reports
Earlier, on Sunday, KP information Minister Iftikhar Hussain had said that the Taliban were in process of reorganizing themselves around Peshawar.
He had also claimed that the Taliban are planning to carry out a major attack in the city.
Hussain said that operations in the tribal areas have forced the militants to flee to areas around Peshawar.
“The strategy of our government is to bring those terrorists out from that area and finish them,” Hussain said. (ANI)
