ITBP Hands Over Ancient Mummy

SHIMLA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- ITBP handed over a 545 year old mummy to the Himachal Pradesh State Government. Reportedly, the mummy discovered by ITBP is housed in the make-shift temple in the village of Giu which is located at a distance of 340 kms from Shimla. On Sunday, Himachal Pradesh State Government declared its plans to preserve the ancient relic and thanked ITBP for their effort in discovering the 545 year old mummy.

Prem Kumar Dhumal who happens to be the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh paid a visit to Giu village in the districts of Lahaul and Spiti where he declared his plans to preserve the mummy. The Chief Minister also said that the State Government shall do anything and everything that is possible to uplift the condition of Giu village. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that ITBP has been issued special orders to maintain peace and order at the borderline where the village stands.

ITBP had discovered the 545 year old mummy during an excavation work. Following that they identified it to be the mummy of Sangha Tenzin; a monk. ITBP men first cited the mummy inside a tomb which is situated at 6000 meters above the sea level. The mummy has been damaged in a few places and ITBP placed the mummy in a glass box to keep it safe from any external damage. The Chief Minister said that a total of nine percent out of the total budgetary has been reserved for the development of tribal areas like that of Giu village. Spiti valley is the only one which have witnessed great developments and other districts are soon to follow.
