FCC temporarily pauses review of Comcast, NBC deal
WASHINGTON — The Federal Communications Commission is temporarily pausing its review of Comcast Corp.’s plan to take control of NBC Universal while it waits for the companies to provide additional details about their operations.
Comcast, the nation’s largest cable operator, is seeking FCC and Justice Department approval to acquire a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal from General Electric Co. Federal regulators are expected to approve the deal with conditions attached.
The FCC last month wrote to Comcast and NBC Universal seeking detailed information about their businesses. On Thursday, the agency sent letters to both companies informing them that their answers didn’t comply with its instructions and asking them to revise and supplement their responses.
